## 1. Wat is GraalVM Native Image?

**Antwoord**

GraalVM Native Image is een technologie die Java-applicaties compileert naar standalone native uitvoerbare bestanden via AOT-compilatie (Ahead-of-Time). Anders dan de traditionele JVM die JIT-compilatie (Just-In-Time) tijdens runtime gebruikt, analyseert en compileert Native Image alle code vooraf. Dit maakt een vrijwel directe opstart (milliseconden), een kleinere geheugenvoetafdruk en geen JVM-afhankelijkheid voor uitvoering mogelijk.

## 2. Wat is het belangrijkste verschil tussen AOT- en JIT-compilatie?

**Antwoord**

AOT-compilatie (Ahead-of-Time) analyseert en compileert alle code vóór de uitvoering en produceert een geoptimaliseerd native executable. JIT-compilatie (Just-In-Time) compileert Java-bytecode geleidelijk tijdens de uitvoering naar machinecode. AOT biedt een onmiddellijke start maar vereist een langere build-tijd, terwijl JIT langzaam start maar de code na verloop van tijd optimaliseert op basis van de werkelijke gebruikspatronen.

## 3. Welke Maven-plugin gebruik je om een Spring Boot native image te bouwen?

De native-maven-plugin uit de groep org.graalvm.buildtools is de officiële plugin om native images met Maven te bouwen. Spring Boot starter parent activeert deze automatisch in het profiel 'native'. Declareer de plugin gewoon in de plugins-sectie en voer mvn -Pnative spring-boot:build-image of mvn -Pnative package uit, afhankelijk van de gewenste modus.
